The castle of Mothe-Chandeniers saved by 7400 Internet users
We don't read news of this kind very often, therefore we are particularly happy to share it. On December 1st, 7400 Internet users from all over the world raised about € 500'000 to purchase the medieval castle of Mothe-Chandeniers, near the village of Les Trois-Moutiers, in the Poitou-Charente region in France.
The structure is still in good condition but not at its best because of the surrounding nature, due to neglect, and an intervention is more than necessary. The "rescue" will be possible thanks to the crowfunding site Dartagnan.fr which, in about 80 days, collected donations from Internet users of 45 different nationalities.
It started with a minimum investment base of € 50 which allowed all participants to officially become co-owners of the castle. Now, all that remains is to wait for is the restoration of the castle and its gardens, that will be brought back to its former glory.
